A new wedding venue in North Essex close to Coggeshall. The lovely country setting of the venue is ideal for a bespoke wedding Reception or other family celebration. The venue was previously a restaurant and has an excellent large kitchen, lounge, dining and dancing areas! The gardens have country views which will be ideal for our style of photography. It looks fantastic for our signature sunset wedding shots! The Compasses Pattiswick is run by a highly experienced wedding event organiser Paul Gooding, who we have worked with many times previously. We look forward to our first commission at this venue.
The wonderful Fennes was the choice of Wedding Venue for Natalie and Craig’s Wedding. An outside Ceremony was what Natalie and Craig were wishing for, so it was fingers crossed the weather would hold. Natalie was getting ready upstairs with the help of her Bridesmaids, so first of all we went to see them. Craig was getting ready in the Bridal Cottage with his son Max, and when they were in the final stages of getting ready we were there to take the pictures. Prior to Natalie and Craig’s Wedding Day, Natalie had dislocated her Collar bone so she was trying not to use her arm very much! Once the men were ready they had a few pictures taken outside Fennes before they went about their duties.
Natalie and the girls were now ready and after her Stepdad saw her for the first look we took a few pictures of them all before it was time for Natalie to see the Registrars. So far the weather was staying fine, maybe a little cooler that recently but nothing to stop the outdoor Ceremony. The Guests were seated and with everyone in place it was time for Natalie to walk the short distance to the Gazebo. Natalie and Craig’s dog led the way, carrying the rings! The rain stayed away, just! After the Ceremony the Guests enjoyed the Drinks Reception with some going inside and others staying outside eating ice cream! Later we got on with taking the requested family group pictures followed by a few pictures of Natalie and Craig around the grounds. Natalie wanted to be held up for a picture, the men and Max did this very carefully! The Wedding Breakfast was held in the Pavilion, followed by the Speeches. After the Speeches there was a little time before the start of the evening celebrations for a few relaxed pictures of Natalie and Craig in the Gold Room and Red Room at the front of the House. The cutting of the cake followed and then Natalie and Craig took to the dance floor for their First Dance. Our day ended with an evening pictures of Natalie and Craig on the Bridge. A lovely day! Thank you to Sue and all at Fennes for looking after us.
Fennes is a beautiful setting for a Wedding and it looked wonderful as we arrived for Stacey and Michael’s Wedding in May. Stacey was getting ready upstairs in the House and Michael was getting ready in the Lodges. Stacey and Michael’s sons, Noah and Harry were with their Daddy, with the plan that they joined Stacey once she was dressed. Preparations were going well and they were all very relaxed.
Michael, his Best Man, Ushers and the boys had a few photos taken when they were ready. Noah and Harry then went upstairs to the Bridal Room to see their Mummy, who looked amazing! After taking some pictures of them all, it was time to go downstairs where Stacey met with the Registrars. The Registrars made their way outside for the Ceremony and Stacey took her father’s arm and went into the Gold Room ready to walk outside. Noah and Harry happily led the way and during the Ceremony they handed over the rings. Following the Ceremony, everyone enjoyed the Drinks Reception, the children were blowing bubbles, whilst adults mingled. In between we took some requested family pictures and later on managed to find time for some pictures of Stacey and Michael. It was soon time for the Wedding Breakfast which was held in the Pavilion. After the Speeches, there were garden games in the grounds which kept everybody entertained. Making the most of the evening sunshine Guests enjoyed strolling around the grounds which gave us the opportunity of taking some evening pictures of Stacey and Michael. When the Evening Guests arrived Stacey and Michael cut their Wedding Cake, which was followed by their First Dance. Stacey and Michael provided their Guests props for ‘fun pictures’ which we captured. A nice day provided a lovely sunset picture. We took our leave a little while later. A wonderful day!
35 Years ago David photographed his Professional wedding assignment. In those days it was film so it had to be correct straight off, no digital “check it on the screen” and “can you correct that in Photoshop!!”
Jeannette and Martin were married at Braintree Register Office on 1st August 1981 and if I remember correctly it cost them about £45. It was shot on 35mm Kodak film on a Nikon FM (manual exposure, manual focus) with just a 50mmm lens. We still have the negatives on file and all of the 1950 weddings we have photographed since then! Congratulations to Jeannette and Martin who are still married and now live in Bristol, we are still great friends. Thank you again to them, for having the faith to book in the first place!
Gosfield Nature Reserve Engagement Shoot for Jo and Kieran was one of our recent evening jobs. The day had been one of those days where the weather had been unpredictable, but in the end we all made the call and met there. We were pleased we did! The sun was out, we avoided as much as we could a few muddy puddles. This was fun anyway, with Kieran giving Jo piggy-backs where necessary, captured of course! After taking a few pictures we all went to the local pub for a chat about their Wedding details and times. Jo and Kieran are getting married at St Mary’s Church, Bocking with their Wedding Reception at The Fennes Estate soon.
We met with Stacey and Michael for their Engagement pictures one evening recently. We chatted over the details and times for their big day and then went to the Witham River Walk for their Engagement Pictures.
We are looking forward to photographing their Wedding at The Fennes Estate in the near future.
The next Fennes Open Day is Sunday 17 April. We are looking forward to attending and displaying our Wedding Photography. Already we know of people attending, new clients as well as existing clients. See The Fennes Estate in the Springtime, a wonderful setting! It will be a good day for visiting this popular Manor House, and meeting with the friendly staff that make Fennes one of the best exclusive use Wedding Venues in Essex. The beautiful well maintained gardens provide wonderful settings for professional photography and include a lake with an impressive bridge!
It was a windy but dry day for Rebecca and Michael’s Wedding at the wonderful Gosfield Hall. Arriving in the morning we met with Rebecca and her sisters, Tareena and Nahida, who were having their hair and make-up done upstairs. David went off to meet with Michael and his Groomsmen who were downstairs Once all the men were present the Courtyard was the setting for their pictures. With some formal and then fun images captured, Guests were arriving so they greeted them and socialised in the bar area. Whilst this was happening, I was keeping an eye on the ‘getting ready’ pictures in between capturing details of Rebecca’s Wedding Dress and accessories which were in the Rococco Suite. Everything was running smoothly but as always the last hour seems to go twice as quick so as soon as Rebecca’s veil was on, it was time to move and get dressed in the Rococco Suite. Rebecca looked stunning in her Wedding Dress and without further ado we got on with her Bridal Portraits. Rebecca’s Brother, Shafi, was giving her away, so after he saw her for the first time we had a little time for a few pictures before the Registrars appeared. The Flowergirls, Megan and Ellie, then led the way along the corridor for the Ceremony in the Queens Gallery. Once the formalities were completed we capturing some relaxed pictures as Rebecca and Michael returned down the aisle before making their way downstairs into the Grand Salon. As it happened Michael and Rebecca had a few minutes to themselves which for us resulted in some nice natural images. Their Guests joined them for the Drinks Reception and Canapes, allowing us time for the informal pictures. After a little whilst socialising it was time to get on with the requested Group pictures and some Bridal Party pictures. Although chilly, these pictures were taken outside in the Courtyard before returning to the warmth of Gosfield Hall! A very quick walk around the outside of Gosfield Hall took place a little later on, well done Rebecca and Michael, more than a touch windswept! We took a few requested pictures just before the Greeting Line and theWedding Breakfast. There were some wonderful expressive images during the Speeches which of course we were pleased to get. Everybody then made their way downstairs for the evening reception. Rebecca and Michael cut their Wedding Cake then took to the dance floor for their First Dance. After capturing a few relaxed evening pictures we said our goodbyes and left them to continue their evening celebrations. A lovely day and it was nice to work with Luke (Videographer) Look Back and Remember.
